Here we go again - somebody other than a Japanese player won a big tournament, so I guess he must be a fraud.
Look, credit where credit is due: most of the Eventhubs staff isn't buying it. Kudos for them for not being fucking morons. But if you're one of the people who's crying because some guy you don't know from Latin America beat a bunch of Japanese players, first of all, READ THAT SENTENCE ONE MORE TIME, IDIOT: MenaRD's path to the title was paved with the tombstones of east Asia's gods. In order, his bracket went like this: Xian, Kazunoko, Daigo, ItaZan, Tokido, Nemo, Tokido. WHAT THE FUCK ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM THE MAN?
Don't even tell me it's because of Birdie. There's only one Birdie player in Shoryuken's top 50, and that's MenaRD. The next guy up is xyzzy, who as of this writing has a total of - wait for it - ZERO tournament wins with the character. Birdie is so far from cheap that Mike Ross, who played the shit-tier E. Honda for YEARS in the previous game, had to give up on Birdie and switch to Laura. So don't you fucking start crying about the character.
And if you're thinking of shitting on the game, don't you dare. If SFV isn't "really" Street Fighter, WHY DID TOKIDO WIN EVO AND MAKE GRAND FINALS AT CAPCOM CUP? This whole argument is just dumb: "As demonstrated by their presence at Capcom Cup and their performance throughout the year, all the best Street Fighter players are good at Street Fighter V. Plus, all the mediocre Street Fighter players from previous titles are still mediocre, except for the ones who worked hard and got better. But this one guy - who, by the way, worked his ass off and got way better - beat all of those good players, therefore waah waah waah waah waah." Listen to me carefully, you whiners: FUUUUUUUUCK YOUUUUUUUUU.
I know I joke on this blog, but there are no flukes in fighting game championships. MenaRD's win was absolutely legitimate and he deserves every Dominican peso of that big-ass check. Okay? Okay.
Now if only someone would tell his fucking sponsor to get their shit together...
...we'd be alright.
"After Capcom Cup's conclusion, some fans expressed a disregard for Mena's win, saying that what was displayed in the grand finals wasn't conventional Street Fighter play. This claim was only magnified by the fact that a legend of the sport -- one who has proven to have a masterful grasp of 'traditional Street Fighter' -- was sitting across the stage.OH, FUCK OFF ALREADY. Are you SERIOUS with this shit?
Many of these same claims extended to the point of deeming MenaRD's victory illegitimate."

I fucking love your blog. You're knowledgeable, entertaining, and are really good at calling out all the bullshit in the FGC. Keep up the good work!
