Some people are fans of Go1. But many other people are NOT fans of Go1. This article is for those in the latter group. And yes, I did completely steal this idea from Drew Magary. So sue me.

Go1-3151, which just breaks my nerd heart. Would it have been so hard to be Go1-314159? Is that so much to ask?
Personal history
Having been introduced to fighting games on his dad's SNES, Go1 is, appropriately, a throwback to the old days of the FGC when you played whatever happened to be at your local arcade. Even though he's focusing more on SFV these days, Go1's fighting game roots go wide and deep, including FOUR side-tournament wins at his very first Evo back in 2015. More recently, he quit his job to play fighting games full time, which is a sentence I think we all want someone to write about us one day.
His character
After running Chun in season 1 and Ibuki at the start of season 2, Go1 seems to have settled on Menat, one of the trickiest characters in the game at the moment (and also, just for the record, the only female character on the SFV roster who my wife thinks is hot). This makes sense for Go1 - his Chun was one of the most technical in the business, and Menat clearly requires that same style of play. Indeed, Go1 is so in love with the technical side of fighting games that he actually criticized American Guilty Gear players for "lack[ing] an ability to abuse the system mechanics to their favor" (which, I think, is a polite way of calling someone a simpleton). So if there's anybody on the circuit who can make us sick to our stomachs watching Menat, it's Go1.
The bad news, though? According to Go1, Menat's bad matchups include Laura and Rashid. And, hmm, who's Go1 playing in the first round? Oh, right - Gachikun! A Rashid player! In fact, there are three Rashids in the bracket as well as a Laura, which means that if Go1 slips at all then his bracket will become an absolute MINEFIELD.
So this is really gonna put Go1 to the test, because last year he was working with a character that even he admitted was unbalanced:
And say what you will about Menat - say that she's just a waifu version of Dhalsim, say that her super animation is cringeworthy, say that she's just there for cosplay purposes, whatever. The one thing you CAN'T say about Menat is that she's overpowered. Even Infiltration, the world's premier runaway player, couldn't turn Menat into a world-beater, so Go1 has his work cut out for him.
Does he beat children?
Only when he has to:
Why he's getting bodied at Capcom Cup
It's one thing to be a king of poverty, but it's something else altogether to be a king of eSports. Here's just one example of what I'm talking about:
"But wait," you say
If Go1 is smart, he'll still have Ibuki in his back pocket for his rough matchups. And, as we know, last year's Capcom Cup winner made his money by switching smartly between his main and his secondary. Can Go1 do the same? I'm skeptical, but if you're not, let me know.

Is this the cool new thing to do now? Between Justin Wong bullying kids online, 801 Strider getting perfects on grade-schoolers, and now this, I'm beginning to think that you can only get good at fighting games by drinking the tears of children."At the Pokken qualifiers I defeated 3 children and qualified for the main event lol" - GO1 (28 years old) https://t.co/HdI7PBvyoN— J I Y U N A (@jiyunaJP) May 15, 2016

Impressive, right? He made grand finals in three very different games, and he won two of those. There's just one problem: Street Fighter is the only one that he DIDN'T win. And that was at a RANKING event! It wasn't even a premier! Look, don't get me wrong - Go1 is damn good. But there's a HUGE difference between "damn good" and "world champion," and Go1 hasn't bridged that gap yet. Given another year or two? Yeah, maybe he'll get there. But he's not there yet.first attack result— CYCLOPS | GO1 (@GO13151) September 5, 2016
